Down in New Orleans - Motel Kingz and Marc Tee

Motel Kingz is the youngest addition within the Dutch blues-scene. The band with it’s home base in Leerdam belongs to the new generation blues bands with a strong growing live-reputation. The band with 4 members headed by the singer/harmonica player DaniĆ«l "Double D" Derksen who has gained their inspiration and musical maturity in bands such as Hardtime and Captain Heartbeat. In a period in which many new bands aim at popular styles such as bluesrock, the men of Motel Kingz like to walk down on older paths. They let them selves inspire mainly by American artists who were predominant in the last decades such as James Harman, Junior Watson and contemporary artists such as The Red Devils. Examples which are inspiered especially by the American West coast scene.. Motel Kingz combines West coast Jump & Swing with Chicago blues and transforms this in modern music. At Motel Kingz there is no place for arrogance . An inquisitive band, there where it concerns the ‘’ old masters’’. Motel Kingz know how to put up a show. Music is combined with an inexhaustible enthusiasm as a result of which in many jamming sessions people get totally into the groove.
