Jailhouse Blues - Jeanne Carroll and Blue Heat


Mississippi native Jeanne Carroll (ALBERTA JEANNE SIMMONS) was born January 15, 1931. She was popular with the Chicago jazz and blues crowd. During the war years Carroll sang with Charlie Agnew's orchestra, which was then based at the El Rancho in Las Vegas, and appeared in the low-budget Universal musical Sing a Jingle. She eventually returned to Chicago, where she continued to perform, recording for Adelphi Records. Currently living in Europe, she is very popular with German jazz and blues enthusiasts. Her daughter, the fabulous Karen Carroll, is also a blues singer.
Jazz singer Jeanne Carroll suffered a massive heart attack on Sunday, Austust 7, 2011, while she was performing on stage with her daughter Karen Carroll at the 11th Annual Blues Oan Daa Stoazze in Hamme, Belgium.

While into the fourth song “All Of Me," Jeanne collapsed. Fortunately, the members of the blues society, that hosted the festival were policemen and firemen and within seven seconds emergency personal began resuscitation.
Jeanne continued to fight for another two days but on Tuesday August 9, 2011, Albertha Jeanne Carroll passed away.
