Join three of Chicago's top singer-songwriters for a night of original music.
Steve Hendershot's songs have been called "hauntingly gorgeous" (Maverick Magazine) and "simple, aching and hearty" (NewCity Chicago). He'll be debuting a new set of tunes he says are his best yet at the Mayne Stage in Chicago on Saturday, August 25. The concert marks Steve's first solo performance after spending seven years as half of the Chicago-based Americana duo The Spares.
In 2006, Steve's song "Mexico" won an international competition sponsored by the Independent Artists Company; "Mexico" was featured on an episode of HBO's True Blood in 2011. In addition, The Spares' CD Beautiful and Treacherous Thing, which Steve produced, was a national finalist for Americana album of the year in the 2009 Just Plain Folks music awards.
Clare Adella's soulful, evocative voice and original songs that are at once powerful and vulnerable make for a stunning combination: performances that overflow with beauty, insight, honesty and deep feeling. Clare grew up in Taiwan and now calls Chicago home. She performs at venues here such as the Mayne Stage, Uncommon Ground and Goose Island, and released her debut recording, Word for Word, in 2012.
Anti Beyond is a fresh sound on the Chicago scene. Drawing on influences ranging from The Decemberists to Drake to pop philosophy, Anti Beyond creates a unique musical experience. The backbone of the project, singer/songwriter Andrew Masters, is enthralled by the way things change over time. Through Anti Beyond's first EP, "Closet Space," released in May 2012, Masters hopes to capture the feeling of watching his closet fill with memories during his formative years.
