Charles Thomas Potter, born in Philadelphia on September 21, 1918, died March 1, 1988, was a jazz double bass player.
Potter is known for having been a member of Charlie Parker's "classic quintet", with Miles Davis, between 1947 and 1950; he had first played with Parker in 1944, in Billy Eckstine's band with Dizzy Gillespie, Lucky Thompson and Art Blakey.

Nice to see some jazz on here... particularly Sonny Stitt! It was a slippery slope for me once I discovered Sonny Stitt. First came the other "Sonnys" Sonny Criss & Sonny Rollins. Next thing I knew I was delving into Lou Donaldson and Jackie McLean. Then Gene Ammons and Ben Webster. Once I got to the "Hanks" Hank Mobley and Hank Crawford. I realized the list was endless. Check them all out!
