This week, North Carolina gospel
duo The Branchettes travel to
New Orleans for Jazzfest, performing along with other Music Maker artists Drink Small, the Pura Fé Trio and Little Freddie King. This
marks another stop in a very busy spring for Music Maker artists. We strive to
ensure artists have an income, and performance opportunities like Jazzfest are
not just another gig - they expose thousands of new fans to our artists, and add
an impressive venue to their resume, which can lead to future opportunities.
Without our supporters, a gig
like Jazzfest might not be possible for our artists. Travel expenses may eat up
a large portion of any gig fee that might be paid to an artist, and so many of
our musicians just cannot afford to take that kind of money out of their pay, no
matter how great the opportunity. Music Maker helps advocate for them and defray
these costs either through the talent buyers, grants, or other avenues, while
organizing the booking and ensuring the artists have everything they need.
Without this essential part of our Musical Development program, these artists
might never be heard at Jazzfest or Byron Bay.
If you're at Jazzfest this year,

our artists are playing! And please consider making a donation to help us keep
our artists spreading Southern Roots music all over the
world.
