We are so proud of all the amazing reviews for Secret Canon Vol. 2 !

'Secret Canon Vol. 2' cuts across stylistic lines with integrity and intensity that holds appeal to listeners open to classy blues and sophisticated soul music and the bluesy side of the jazz vocal tradition.
Downbeat

A singer of profound emotional resonance and physical strength, Kurtz is her usual chameleonic self here, seamlessly weaving from the blues to jazz to country soul.

Dayna Kurtz's Secret Canon, Vol. 2  is a collection of uncovered blues and R&B gems from the 1940's-1960's. Dayna researched music for this project for months to come up with just the right material. In addition, Secret Canon, Vol. 2  contains a few of Dayna's smoky and seductive originals. The sessions for the recording took place in New York as well as Danya's new home in New Orleans.

Over the past decade, the recent New Orleans transplant vocalist/writer/musician/producer has been bestowed with many awards and praises. Dayna Kurtz was named Female Songwriter of the Year by the National Academy of Songwriters.  Norah Jones and Bonnie Raitt have raved about her in interviews, and she's performed on such high-profile radio shows as World Cafe, Mountain Stage and NPR's Morning Edition.  She's toured with and/or opened for the likes of Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson, Rufus Wainwright, B.B. King, Dr. John, Richie Havens, Keren Ann, Joe Henry, Olu Dara, Chris Whitley, Richard Buckner, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
