 Danny Bryant's special relationship with Walter is well-documented. When then-fifteen-year-old Danny Bryant sent a fan letter to Trout almost twenty years ago after discovering Walter’s music in his parents record collection, he surprisingly received a phone call one evening out of the blue from his idol. Thus began a special mentor-ship and unique bond that would change the course of Danny’s life forever. Trout has mentored Danny ever since, offering wisdom and advice freely. From the early days of afternoon guitar lessons during Walter’s relentless UK tours, to numerous support slots, recording sessions and sensational jams at major international festivals, the Walter Trout-Danny Bryant relationship is truly special.    Danny Bryant will be fronting Walter’s powerhouse rhythm section. Sammy Avila (keyboards) has been with Walter since 2001. Born and raised in San Gabriel, California, into a musical family, Avila cut his teeth on the L.A. club circuit playing with a vast array of musical acts. Michael Leasure (drums), born in Alhambra, California, played with guitar phenom Philip Sayce for six years and the legendary Edgar Winter before joining the Walter Trout band in 2008. Rick Knapp (bass) has played with such legends as Carey Bell, Sam Lay, & Bo Diddley before joining the Walter Trout Band in 2005. Together they form one of the greatest blues/rock outfits anywhere in the world.

    For Jon Trout, it seems very natural to be following in his father's musical footsteps on guitar. In much the same way that his father once mentored Danny Bryant, Jon Trout is now receiving the same guidance and tutelage from Bryant.

    Walter Trout has just released The Blues Came Callin' (limited edition, CD/DVD). Walter's biography, Rescued From Reality, is due out July 8.  It will feature pages of previously unreleased photos from Trout's childhood as well as Trout's years with Canned Heat and John Mayall, as well as many from his storied solo career. The next Collectible Vinyl Series release of Walter's recordings, Positively Beale Street, drops July 7.

WALTER TROUT BAND FEATURING GUITARIST DANNY BRYANT ANNOUNCES SUMMER U.S./CANADIAN TOUR BEGINNING JULY 31 IN HERMOSA BEACH; SPECIAL GUEST:  WALTER'S SON,  JON TROUT

   (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) - Excitement is building for "A Tribute To Walter," the upcoming Walter Trout Band Tour fronted by guitarist Danny Bryant with special guest, Jon Trout (Walter's son) on guitar. The two-month, U.S.-Canadian tour kicks off July 31 in Hermosa Beach, Calif. (see complete itinerary below) and is an appreciative return for Trout's band while they await the return of their enigmatic leader as he recovers from a recent liver transplant.

  Danny Bryant, acclaimed U.K. guitarist-vocalist and Walter Trout protégé, will be fronting the WTB in place of Trout. Jon Trout, Walter's 21-year-old son, will be accompanying the band on guitar for the entire tour. Danny and Jon first jammed together earlier this year at London’s famed 02 Shepherds Bush Empire, and the onstage chemistry between the two was instant for all to see - making it a must decision for Jon to be added to this very special celebration of his father's and one of the world's greatest blues artists. In the same way Walter Trout has mentored Danny Bryant, Danny is now doing the same for the younger Trout. Regular WTB members Rick Knapp (bass), Sammy Avila (keyboards), and Michael Leasure (drums) round out what promises to be a stellar band that certainly has Walter's stamp of approval!

Jazzhaus Records artist: Danny Bryant - Hurricane - New Release Review

I've just received the newest release (UK release date may 6, 2013) Hurricane by guitar virtuoso Danny Bryant. Bryant, a protege of guitar slinger Walter trout has assembled a solid package of blues rock tracks heavily laden with confident vocals and edgy guitar. Opening with Prisoner Of The Blues, Bryant shows his take no prisoner attitude with strong vocals, fast finger work and stinging vibrato. Greenwood 31 is a really cool track blending early swampy blues roots with Jimi Hendrix flare and his own powerful style. This is a real strong track. Can't Hold On is a more solemn track opening with piano by Richard Hammerton. Constructed as a ballad, Bryant shows his singing chops before digging in on some hot bluesy guitar. Title track Hurricane is a rocker and really structured in the radio track vein. Actually puts me in mind of some of Bowie's work. Devil's Got A Hold On Me is a hot boogie track building into a rocking guitar fest. I'm Broken is a cool blues ballad with sweet guitar work over a heavy bottom provided by Ken Bryant on bass and Trevor Barr on drums. Possibly my favorite track on the recording. Losing You is a prototypical blues ballad for guitar... think Gary Moore. This is a strong track with hot guitar riffs. Bryant uses the entire fretboard for dynamics and it is very successful. The release is concluded with Painkiller, a ballad opening quietly on acoustic guitar and just Bryants voice... but concluded with raw electric pyrotechnics sure to engage any blues rock guitar enthusiast. Previously hailed as a young guitar virtuoso, and a protégé of Walter Trout, Danny Bryant is building a formidable reputation as a leading British blues rock guitar heavyweight in his own right. On Monday 6th May, Jazzhaus Records will release his new studio album "Hurricane" in the UK.

Recorded as a power trio, the new album was produced by Richard Hammerton (Manic Street Preachers). The nine songs showcase the evolution of Bryant as both guitarist and songwriter. The album bursts with power-fueled originals, groove-driven up-tempo songs, and soulful blues ballads.
Danny retreated to the rural solitude of the county of Cornwall in the southwest of the UK to record the new album. "It was just like time travel," says Danny. "Since there was almost no phone reception or internet connection, I spent between 15-18 hours a day concentrating on nothing but  the music."

The difference to the previous studio album "Just As I Am" (2010) is based mainly in the production. Says Danny - "The songs are the result of hard work and have gained considerable complexity." This is evident not only in the melodic title track, but also with the ballad "Can't Hold On" not to mention the funky-bluesy "Greenwood 31" – a song that harks back to a similar urgency in the style of Jimi Hendrix mixed with the attitude of Lenny Kravitz.

Inspired by American rockers including John Hiatt and Bruce Springsteen, Bryant looks back on some of his career highlights. Reflects Danny - "Recording the live album "Nightlife"(2012) was a milestone. Over the past few years we’ve constantly toured Europe, and in doing so, we have broken new ground both musically and geographically." 
The results are evident from the reaction from the audiences. "In the beginning, people were primarily coming to the concerts to see a young guitar player," says Danny, "but these days I think they’re coming because of songs, voice and overall performance."
