I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

WHAT THE PRESS IS SAYING ABOUT DEEDRA PATRICK AND SWAMP KATZ

"To anoint someone a "survivor" in the music world has got to be the most played out of all rock 'n' roll cliches. Still, it's a pretty apt description of Deedra Patrick, a powerhouse vocalist with a sterling reputation, not just in Bakersfield but the many places around the country where her talent has taken her."                        Matt Munoz/BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN.

"Vocalist Deedra Patrick is back in the studio...powerful vocals and hot guitar riffs from (guitarist) Ron Brem..."            BMANS BLUES REPORT

"Deedra Patrick and the Swamp Katz blew the crowd away with Patrick's Janis Joplin-esque voice and lively band."       Valerie Cassity/KERN VALLEY SUN

                                                                     DEEDRA PATRICK - BIO

Imagine Janis Joplin, Lydia Pence of Cold Blood, and Etta James if they all took the stage at the same time. Close your eyes, and you might find yourself hearing just that fine ensemble of artists when Deedra Patrick sings.
While attending college Deedra got her start performing professionally at age 17 as lead singer for the rock band "Contra-Band". This band played 5 nights per week, from 1983 thru 1989 in local clubs in her hometown of Bakersfield. It was during this time that Ms. Patrick learned how to perform on stage and handle an audience by playing the local bar scene.
At the age of 23 Deedra left Bakersfield for LA, during this time she headlined clubs like The Roxy and The Rainbow on Sunset Strip as lead singer of the popular hard rock band, Typsy Fox. The band later changed their name to Rain on Fire and received airplay on KLOS for their original songs, as well as, receiving rave reviews in local magazines such as Music Connection. They were known as one of the only hard rock bands in Hollywood fronted by a female vocalist. Her powerful vocals were hard for any female or male vocalist to contend with and they created a name for themselves as being a high energy, hard hitting band.
By 1994, Deedra hooked up with the legendary producer, Rick Jarrard, of Jefferson Airplane, Jose Feliciano, Michael McDonald fame. He offered her a songwriting deal and began to mentor her, spending hours teaching her all his secrets about recording, the industry, songwriting and perfecting her talent. During this time Deedra was being courted for a record deal from Geffen Records, unfortunately a major car accident while touring put a temporary halt to all Deedra's dreams.
Fast forward to 2012 and Deedra - who regularly performs with her band, The Swamp Katz - is back in the studio recording original blues/rock songs that she has written alone and with writers Ron Brem and Chris Neufeld. These songs are a reflection of her life and journeys that have led to this point in her career. The Swamp KATZ consists of Ron Brem on lead guitar and Chris Neufeld on keyboards. The band regularly uses session players for bass and drums, which have included Joe Baiza and Jimmy Johnson on bass, as well as, Zanne Zarrow and Jonathan Weinmann on drums. Songwriters Patrick/Brem and Neufeld have created a sound that is new and unique to the blues world. With their combined styles they have created a hard hitting, funky blues sound with big gospel harmonies and soulful melodies, with guitar stylings reminiscent of Jimmy Hendrix.
You do not want to miss hearing this vocalist, her unique styling, and learn of her life through her songs. She will remind you of many great blues / soul singers of past. She will make you feel every emotion and every pulse of the music.
“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson If you support live Blues acts, up and coming Blues talents and want to learn more about Blues news and Fathers of the Blues, Like ---Bman’s Blues Report--- Facebook Page! Deedra Patrick back in the studio!

Powerhouse vocalist Deedra Patrick who recently played the Kern River Rock n Blues Fest is back in the studio and recording after an auto accident sidelined her career temporarily. Ex lead singer for Contra-Band and headliner  at the Roxy and the Rainbow on Sunset Strip has a few tracks together and I had the chance to hear Chasing The Rabbit and When The Rain Came Down. Her vocals are strong and she is teamed with Rick Jarrard and her band, Ron Brem (guitars), Jimmy Johnson (bass) and Chris Nuefeld (keys). The tracks are pop bluesy and of course feature her powerful vocals as well as hot guitar riffs from Brem.

Watch for upcoming info.

Live performance of Alastair Greene Band performing crowd fave (and Greene original)  "Drunk Again"
"Greene's opener, the incendiary, Eruption-like "Before The Storm," makes it crystal clear he's a gunslinger who could tear the roof off of any roadhouse blues bar...and his role as a Alan Parsons sideman only beefs up his guitar cred. All told, "Through The Rain," the swaggering "Stoneroller" and the Tony Iomi-influenced "Madman" are solid platforms for his exceptional musicianship."

Electrifying guitarist-vocalist Alastair Greene hits the Bud Light Stage at 6 p.m. sharp on Saturday night, September 29 and is the perfect act to jam out to as the sun starts to set on the Kern River concert-goers. Greene has carved a solid niche' through the years with rock, blues, and guitar fans; his latest recording, "Through the Rain" (Riatsala Music) has received worldwide media accolades. The album's signature single, "By The Way," (featuring a catchy chorus and rollicking lead guitar trade-offs between Greene and Ty Tabor from King's X) is nominated for "Rock Single of the Year" by the 2012 Los Angeles Music Awards. Alastair was also recently selected one of "Rockwired Magazine's 25 Guitarists You've Gotta Know!" in the magazine's upcoming October issue. Check out a just-published interview with Greene in All Access Magazine here.
