I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Andre' Bisson - Left With The Blues - New Release Review

I just received the newest release, Left With The Blues, from Andre' Bisson and it's soulful and tasty. Opening with the title track, Left With The Blues, Bisson wastes no time in digging into a bluesy soul number. His own lead vocals and piano work, kissed nicely by Bil Holinaty on sax, Loretta Hale on trumpet, Kevin Beeby on bass and really rich backing vocals from JP Shalala, Deanna Shalala and Stacy Hunt. Very nice! Pumped up rock driver, Borrowed Time, is fueled by a driving guitar lead by Bisson and Loretta Hale on trumpet. Slinky blues track, Play Me A Fool has a sassy saunter and I feel Bisson's best vocal effort on the release. Jason Logue and Robert Dickson join on trumpet and Rob Somerville on trombone really giving it a full horn sound and New Orleans style piano on this track gives it a real sweet touch. Nice! R&B track, All I Need, has a real Jackie Wilson feel. Again horn work gives the track a lot of fullness and with it's perky beat, compliments of Paul and rich backing vocals makes this a very up lifting track. Deepest Kind Of Mean has a Jr. Wells feel featuring Jerome Godboo on harp and saturated horn punctuation. Paul takes the trap set for a spin and the trumpets bring him out just in time for a hungry Bisson to rip a few hot riffs on guitar. There For You is a sweet ballad with all of the warmth and appeal of the best of Henley and Frey. Holinaty blows a real nice sax lead and Crystal Lee adds a nice violin line. Very nice! A little funky, Daybreak, puts a cool hitch in your step and again Holinaty rips out the horn. Jesse O'Brien adds some key B3 warming up the overall feel accented by Hale on trumpet. Ordinary Day opens with a rich horn intro setting up a solid ballad. O'Brien on Wurlitzer and Bisson on piano create the base and again Holinaty lays out a really nice sax solo. Bisson hits the piano just right and beautifully orchestrated solo lines flow. A solid radio track. Albert King's Crosscut Saw is up next and maintaining it's cool rhythm, Bisson adds in some slick blues riffs which don't have Albert's timbre, do have his feel. I like the texture of Bisson's vocals on this track and Hale and Paul team nicely to keep it tight. Wrapping the release is spiritual, revival track, Brand New Day. This track has the full swing of a gospel tent adding Theresa Charters, Rachel Moroz, Patricia Labignan & Kevin Beeby on vocal. Add in the full compliment of horns and this track rocks. Tight conclusion to a rich offering.
