-

record’s launch, Wayne will be extensively
touring across the U.S.
(current dates below).
To commemorate the album details

Produced by Wayne and his longtime producer/collaborator Lloyd Maines (Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Dixie
Chicks, Joe Ely), Ride further
cements Wayne’s
life-long calling as a modern-day traditionalist through his signature mélange
of roadhouse blues, hepcat boogie, rockabilly, and juke joint swing. Throughout
Ride a theme
develops wherein soul searching transforms into letting go; where the
back-porch, rocking chair contemplation seamlessly melds with the atmospheres
of the lively, carefree honky tonk or just the open road that leads there.

AUSTRALIAN ROGER KNOX RELEASES
NEW ALBUM STRANGER IN MY LAND
TODAY, FEBRUARY 12
PLUS, THE LAUNCH OF
HIS NEW SINGLE “BLUE GUMS CALLING ME BACK HOME” w/ KELLY HOGAN, JON
LANGFORD AND OTHERS
Featuring
producer/collaborator Jon Langford (Mekons, Waco Brothers), Charlie
Louvin’s possible last recording, guest appearances from Kelly Hogan,
Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Dave Alvin (Blasters, X), the Sadies, Sally
Timms (Mekons), Andre Williams, the Pine Valley Cosmonauts, and others.
Elegant, suffused with meaning and essential. –
Canada.com
Both a revelation and a fine album in a style that seems
timeless, Stranger in My Land should, in a fair and equitable world, bring Knox
an appreciative audience in America, and it may well illustrate how much
American country music has lost and left behind in its brazen pursuit of the
pop charts. 4 out of 5 stars. – All Music.com
Part travelogue, part National Geographic special, and part
crash sociology course, Stranger
in My Land, the
new album by Roger Knox is surely to be the most important album you will
listen to all year, and might just be the most important album of the
decade… Stranger
in My Land is a
five on a five scale listen. – Cool Album of the Day
To commemorate the album release,
we would like to share a song stream from Stranger
In My Land, the Kelly Hogan and Sadies featuring “Blue Gums
Calling Me Back Home.” You can listen to the track here - http://soundcloud.com/bshq/roger-knox-and-kelly-hogan
- and embed/share the song via Facebook, Twitter, etc.
You can order the new album at
your favorite online retailer or over at Bloodshotrecords.com.
Bloodshot artist Jon Langford (Mekons, Waco Brothers) met
Roger Knox – the Koori King of Country or Black Elvis – on a visit
to Australia several years ago and, when he heard Roger’s story and
captivating music and the potentially-soon-to-be-lost subculture of this
utterly unique cultural collision (a.k.a. Indigenous Australian country/western
music), knew he had to put out his next record. Stranger In My Land is a collection of
songs originally written by Indigenous Australian artists who were Knox’s
predecessors, some tunes previously recorded but difficult to find as well as
several unrecorded, handed-down folklore songs (which without this recording,
could be lost forever). It is powerful and moving material, suffused with
longing, alienation, resilience and hope; universal themes arising out of a
previously unexplored context. It carries the weight of a Harry Smith document,
but with a spirit that remains relevant in today's world.
