I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Scott Weis Band - Live In Europe - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Live In Europe, from the Scott Weis Band and it's a solid blues based rocker. Opening with Raise Your Hands, a solid rocker, Scott Weis on lead vocal and guitar really gets the show going. With Robert Kopec on bass and vocal and Roger Voss on drums, this is a great sound. On ZZ Top's Just Got Paid/Jesus Just Left Chicago, Weis on vocal and lead guitar gets that Gibbons grit and cruises into his well known shuffle. This is a great concert track and nicely developed. Pride and Soul is a strong track opening with stripped down guitar, vocal and tambourine. Growing as it develops, this track is a potent blues rocker. With a driving bass line by Kopec and tight drums by Voss, this is one of my favorites on the release. Sam and Dave's deep soul track, Something is Wrong With My Baby, is really developed nicely here with well blended vocal harmonies and an extended guitar solo by Weis. Funky, Bitch Please, breaks a nice groove and with a rolling bottom and relentless guitar riffs, this track really moves. Wrapping the release is Freddie King's Have You Ever Loved A Woman, with Weiss hitting stiff and hard on guitar. Spanning over 10 minutes, this is a great jam and a strong closer for this solid concert release.

Scott Weis Band - Raise Your Hands - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Raise Your Hands, by Scott Weis Band and it's a solid blues rocker. Opening with Motherless Child, Scott Weis on slide guitar and lead vocal really gets a great groove going. With a heavy kick drum and snare Roger Voss reinforces the beat and Robert Kopec on bass is joined by Cindy Mizelle on vocal creating a really strong opener. Blues rocker, Judgement Day, opens with a cool rimshot riff and Weiss powers a Gibbons style guitar riff giving this track plenty of fuel. Weis lays in a really  nice solo over a rowdy bass line by Kopec and Voss powers up the drums. Very cool. A strong cover of Cocker's arrangement of With A Little Help From My Friends really is a nice surprise. Weis' vocals are strong, with backing by Sarah Smith,  John Ginty adds real tension on keys and his Weis' guitar solo phrasing works nicely. Funky rocker, Bitch Please, has just a touch of Jagger in styling with it's rumbling bass and steady drum line. Weis gives the track a turn on the refrain and his guitar pushes outside the brackets just a little giving the track a bit more grit. Wrapping the release is Bring Me Home featuring Weis on banjo, Kopec on bass and Voss on kick drum. With an acoustic, country blues feel Weis carries the melody for a very solid closer to a really cool release.

Scott Weis Band - Simmer Me Down - New Release Review

I just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Simmer Me Down, by Scott Weis Band and it's a great blues rocker. Opening with Pride And Soul, a strong foot stomper with country and gospel influences, SWB sounds great. With Weis on lead vocal and guitar and Cindy Mizelle on backing vocals this track is smoking. Backed by Robert Kopee on bass, Roger Voss on drums and John Ginty on keys this track is tight. All Over Again is a great blues track with a bouncy beat but lots of grit. Weis' guitar playing isn't highly technical but it is high octane and emotional. Excellent track. Issac Hayes' soul track, When Something Is Wrong With My Baby gets just a little more blues heat giving Weis a great venue to solo on guitar  and his style and emotion is terrific. Saved is a super blues rocker with loose guitar work that works really nicely over a complex drum and percussion (Bashiri Johnson) work. Very cool. Wrapping the release is Transcendence has more of a jam framework along the lines of an eastern pattern and Allman or Trucks execution. Strong closer for a really nice release.

SCOTT WEIS BAND - Mike Packer correspondent

So let's groove back to the days when rock music had freedom, the days of The Fillmore, when rock was pure and inovative and the musicality was key. Let us now say we have The Scott Weis Band.
Compose
The Scott Weis Band is Scott Weis (guitar-vocals), Todd Lake (bass) and Dave Becker on drums. Scott and his crew raise the level of blues and rock with their high energy infused style blending a little Memphis soul to set you musically free. They have been gaining friends and fans across the country one step at a time.

The Scott Weis Band as shared the stage with many of the greats such as BB King,, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray and have done numerous gigs as support act for Blues Traveler. John Popper of Blues Traveler says about The Scott Weis Band " This band smokes and has a ton of soul that will rock your world ". If you enjoy killer guitar like I do you will love them. This band is good!!!!
