I started a quest to find terrific blues music and incredible musicianship when I was just a little kid. I also have a tremendous appreciation of fine musical instruments and equipment. One of my greatest joys all of my life was sharing my finds with my friends. I'm now publishing my journey. I hope that you come along!

Seconds From The Clock - Steve Kusaba
You never know what's going to come across my desk. Today it is an experimental journey into music the likes of which I have never heard. The musicians are Steve Kusaba (Vocals, Guitar and Bass), Ed Goldfarb (Piano)and Jason Meilke (Drums)with additional musicians the least of which is not Emilie Jensen who adds some well executed vocal textures. I have been exposed to a lot of different types of music but with this I really don't know where to begin. Seconds From The Clock is an eleven track excerpt from a larger 47 hour composition called Centrifugal Satz Clock. The composer, Steve Kusaba, a largely self taught musician though obviously a voracious listener studied under a lot of musical people at Weber State and the University of Utah. The extremely expansive endeavor ventures into classical Renaissance through 20th century serial music, pop, rock, jazz... broadway all whipped together in a frappe of textures and melodies. The composition brings to mind moments in Frank Zappa and Todd Rundgren (Gilbert and Sullivan)and even Queen. The compositional portion which I listened to (the entire cd but not 47 hours) includes one track, the whimsical and classical yet screaming track 10, which included a guitar interlude by Steve Vai... yes Steve Vai! If you want to listen to something different, check this out.
